MYAP – Counselors are scheduling meetings now!

MYAP Overview

MYAP (Multi-Year Academic Plan) is a student’s plan for the courses they will take in each year of high school to prepare for their postsecondary goal and meet the DMPS graduation requirements. Students meet with their counselor each fall to make course requests for the following school year and enter their requests in their MYAP. During this meeting, students will talk with their school counselor about aligning their courses requests to their postsecondary plans.

Students must have a postsecondary goal in mind and complete their grade level specific planning sheet using the course catalog prior to meeting with their counselor for their MYAP meeting. Grade level planning sheets (for the grade the student will be in during the 25-26 school year) can be found on the Virtual Campus website under Student Supports -> School Counseling -> Course Requests/MYAP. Students who are unsure of their postsecondary goals should use the SchooLinks program to explore education and career pathways that may be a good fit for them. Please reach out to our Future Ready Coach, Ms. Diana Lovan, through Teams if you need help with SchooLinks.

Students will request courses for their home high school (Virtual Campus) and at Central Campus and Central Academy during their MYAP meeting. All students need to meet with their counselor for MYAP, even if they plan to attend a high school other than Virtual Campus next year. Course requests entered in MYAP will transfer with students who enroll in other DMPS high schools.

If a student misses their scheduled meeting, their counselor will reschedule once. If the student does not attend their make up meeting, their counselor will enter request for them. Counselors will not be able to schedule more than one make-up meeting for students. Please encourage your student to attend their initial MYAP meeting. Once course requests have been entered in MYAP, caregivers will be able to view their student’s requests through the Academic Plan tab in the Infinite Campus portal.

Timeline for MYAP

  • Late October – School counselors add a 20-30 minute MYAP meeting to each student’s calendar for November or early December. Students must attend this meeting to request their courses for 25-25.

Students can explore options for classes at  Central Campus and Central     Academy during this lesson or on their own prior to meeting with their counselor.
